The commercial fishing boat Wind Blown left Montauk Harbor in March 1984 on what was supposed to be a normal offshore expedition. The boat's owner was the captain of the four-man crew, which included two locals and the blue-blooded son of a well-to-do summer family. The weather abruptly changed and the foursome collided with a nor'easter. They quickly found themselves in the midst of a life-or-death struggle.
