Details: It's 1976 in Boston. Daniel Fitzsimmons, 16, is sitting in a small flat above Kenmore Square, listening to his landlord describe an apparently mad theory about invisible pulses of light and energy that may be harnessed by the human mind. He wishes he could laugh about it with his brother Harry, but Harry, a Harvard football star, has just been slain in an alley the same night.
